I'm So Happy!

I know I've said it before, but I enjoy working.  Everyone says I'm nuts.  But, what the heck, I'd surely rather be happy to work than be dreading every weekday.  The thing is, I like challenges, and those are everywhere when you're starting a new job with new responsibilities.

To be honest, I did feel a bit overwhelmed that first week, but I'm settling in to the job and it feels great.  And I have such a wonderful work group, and my management is so full of support; yeah, I'm one happy girl.

Monday I have pre-chemo labs to do, and Tuesday is infusion day and then back on those damned Xeloda pills.  I need to buy stock in a hand lotion company.

But most excitingly, next week my sister Wendy and her SO, Dean will be coming in from Ohio for a visit.  That's Nurse Wendy of past blog posts.  I'm so excited to see them both.  And the following week it's Winter Solstice, so holy moses, it's going to be one fantastic December.

Speaking of Wendy and Dean, they got me a new game called Elder Scrolls V:  Skyrim.  Oh boy, am I having a blast with this game.  It's not on one-line mulitplayer as is my usual haunt, but this one is single player in a HUGE world in which you can just explore to your heart's content.  And it's beautiful.

And Skyrim is why I haven't posted since Monday; too busy playing.  I play more than when I was a kid; we didn't actually play much.  Mostly we did homework and read.  But we all got great grades, so that was the trade-off.  Anywho, I must be making up for lost time. :)

Now you all keep warm, and have a great weekend if I don't post before then.

Oh My Nose

I am sick.  I don't know if I caught a cold somehow, or if I've got the beginnings of a sinus infection, but I can't breathe through my nose and my throat is sore from post nasal drip.  Of course, not being able to breathe through my nose means I can't use my CPAP when I sleep, nor my O2.  I hate having blocked sinuses.  I don't have a fever though, so that's a good sign.

We had a virtual ticket to BlizzCon for this weekend.  Watching was a double-edged sword.  There was so much information about what's coming in the future, including Diablo III, and the new World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria.  I'm happily anticipating being able to play both, and yet I have to wonder if I will still be able to play by the time they go into production.  I'm thinking that if this current chemo regimen continues to have good results, then I should be able to partake of both DIII and the new WoW expansion.

Back to the "I am sick" part; I'm hitting my hookah even as I type.  This whatever has already started to impact my lungs.  But I will keep an eye on it and call my pulmo if things take a bad turn.  I do have Levaquin and Prednisone here on hand if I need it.  Hate them both, though.

On a happy note, I have decided to get my sisters Kindle Fires for Winter Solstice.  No worries about spilling the beans as they already know what they are getting.  At least Jane and Nancy, that is.  Cathy is getting completely different stuff, and Wendy and Dean; well the jury is still out on them. :)

Now, I think I'm going to play a little bit of World of Warcraft, then get to bed early.  I'm feeling so puny and weak.  It IS chemo week, so that's not surprising.

Love, hugs and kisses to all!

Happy Winter Solstice!

It's that most wonderful time of the year. ;)  OK, not so much.  However, sisters and I watched a bit of the eclipse late last night.  How lovely that it chose the longest night of the year to occur.  Too bad we had mostly clouds, but every once in a while, there was a break, and you could see the moon clearly.

I woke with a cough this morning, but I think it's my normal asthma goopiness.  Yes, that is an official asthma term... for me, anyway: Goopy.

Sisters and I opened our Winter Solstice gifts this morning.  And now, I am wearing an official NFL licensed Pittsburgh Steelers on-field jersey, with number 9, and SEPULVEDA on the back.  No, Daniel Sepulveda is no relation, but I do HAVE a nephew of the same name.  Too bad number 9 is out for the season; he's done a great job this year. :(

Anyone that really knows me will know that I am not a fan of American Football, so for me to actually have followed some of it is ... odd. But how could I not?  I mean how many times does the name Sepulveda show up on a football field?

Actually, I follow football, as in "The Beautiful Game."  My favorite team is Liverpool FC.  My favorite player?  Steven Gerrard, who has also been out with an injury.  It was hoped he'd hit the pitch for the Fulham game, but due to the incredible snow in Europe, it's been postponed.  Alas.

And that, ladies and gents is the sum of my sports knowledge. ;)

I'm a bit tired today; I think too much coughing, but it IS that time of the year.  Weather gets cold, I cough.  I remember when the nuns told my mom to go get me tested for Tuberculosis.  :P  I coughed.  And, I had asthma, although it wasn't diagnosed until I was in my late 20's.  Plenty of time for it to screw up my lungs permanently.  Oh well. :D

Again, Happy Winter Solstice... love to all, and be happy, warm and have peace in your lives.

Feeling pretty good!

Today was my third radiation, and I saw my RO right after the treatment.  She said that creating the plan for my treatment was very complicated, (since my crappy lungs are right there behind this tumor, it's very hard to avoid injuring them further) but that she's confident in how we're progressing.  She also almost made me cry; she said that my MO told her that I had "the most beautiful attitude" he's ever seen.  Hey, it's just that I appreciate everything they are doing for me, and it behooves me to do the best I can as well. :)

We had some lovely chicken and prosciutto tortellinis for dinner tonight, and you know, it just barely hurt to eat them.  Then, I had something I haven't had in ages;  bread and ...well.. margarine, but OMG, bread IS the staff of life!  Yeah, I've lost a little more weight, so I decided to have those darned carbs and hope my diabetes meds can keep up. So far, so good.

Thursday, I have to make sure that my MO is getting my Medical Leave paperwork done.  It would be quite hideous to miss a paycheck.  Especially so close to Winter Solstice!

So, let me tell you what my week is like:  Monday, and Tuesday, it's just radiation.  Wednesday, I have to have bloodwork, then radiation.  Thursday is Chemo and Radiation, and Friday is just radiation.  Saturday and Sunday, I recover from... the chemo. :P  Really, it's not that bad, but yes, being out on medical leave is certainly taking A LOT of the stress out of it all.

It's weird, though, that I feel my worst in the morning, and as my day progresses, I do feel much better.  Maybe I'm not a morning cancer person. ;)

I had a great chat with my friend Annette this afternoon, and you know, talking with friends is always a happy occasion.  And just because I'm not at work doesn't mean I'm not going to want to talk to my Boeing family... so you all feel free to call!

Hugs and kisses!
