No Appetite

Losing your appetite is just another part of the whole chemotherapy journey.  It's my Chemo Week ON, which means I'm having chemo, in one form or another, for the entire week.  Tuesday starts Chemo Week OFF. :)


When I find it hard to eat, my sisters work diligently to tempt me.  Today, Jane made Steak Tagliata with Fresh Vegetable Salsa.  The salsa was scrumptious and complemented the steak with fresh, vibrant flavors.  Didn't eat much of it, but what I had was fantastic!  I'm trying to make sure I eat plenty of protein, so there is a bunch of greek yogurt in the fridge.  I like to mix it with granola or my muesli.


Tomorrow my sisters and I are going to do another all-sister dungeon run in World of Warcraft.  Hopefully, we can get past the first boss in this one.  Last time we tried, we just didn't have our hearts in it, and the boss kicked our pixels. But, we've gotten better gear, enchanted up, added gems, and I got my healer to level 83, so that should help a bit. 


And that's it for this post.  I'm tired, I hurt, I feel like crap, but it's only three more days until this week's chemo is done, and I can start to recover.  Love to all, and share some hugs!

Cumulative Effects of Chemo

Food is an abomination right now.  But sleep is coming pretty easily.  My stomach feels like it's tied in knots, and nothing tastes good.  Nancy made me a garden burger for lunch, but I could only get two bites down.  I did eat an entire Sargento Pepper Jack cheese stick, though.  YAY for protein.


I slept until almost seven AM, then I got down my plethora of pills with two pieces of toast.  And then I went back to bed and slept until Noon.  My strength is gone, and I'm wandering the house using a walker again.


Actually, I think I hear my bed calling out to me again.  "Come, sleep!"  "Rest more!"  Oh the temptation.  I don't feel sick while I sleep, but who wants to sleep away their life?  But I am so tired.


I'll post more tomorrow, or the next day.  I'm tired and I don't feel so hot.

Nose is Still Hideous

But I am almost starting to feel a little more human.  I'm still wobbly on my feet, due to the debilitating effects of the chemo, but I did have a little bit of an appetite this evening.


I couldn't work again today, but thankfully, I did have enough sick time saved up that I could use two days of it.  It's kind of scary that every round of chemo, I get sick with SOMETHING.  I hope to heavens this regimen is making a difference.  This is hard, and now I'm starting to have anxiety about each round.


Hopefully, the CT will show some improvements in my tumors and if it does, I will continue on, and just deal with it.  If not, I don't know.  Yes, I am terrified of this disease running its course.  


I have to stop typing, now.  The pain in my arms is annoying.  Have sweet dreams, all. :)

Nuts

I like nuts.  They are really good for you, too.  I think having skipped a week of Chemo, I've gotten my appetite back, and now I am craving all kinds of things.  Nuts, for one.  So, I found some Blue Diamond Almonds, Jalapeno Smokehouse flavor.  Yummy!  I'm guessing with all the flavoring agents, NOT so good for you as the more natural ones, but dang, really good. ;)

Today will be radiation 23... five more to go!  I went and got my blood work done this AM, and asked for the hand warmer as soon as I got there, as I had been instructed two weeks ago by my phlebotomist.  Too bad it wouldn't fit under my glove, but oh, it was soooo nice, and it really did make a world of difference in getting my vein ready for tapping.

I'm quite happy with the folks at Sonora Quest, the lab I use every week.  They are considerate, mostly on time, and do a great job.  I always appreciate a phlebotomist that looks at the availability of your veins and decides you're too much of a challenge, then goes and gets someone else.  That is the mark of caring blood-letter. :D

Back to nuts.  I also got a bag of Planters Wicked Hot Chipotle Peanuts.  Now these are definitely hot, but not as good as the Blue Diamond.  Mostly, I think because of the nut factor itself.  I just like almonds better.  But cravings are cravings, and so, had to get the peanuts, too.

It should reach 70 today, so it's definitely a little more comfortable.  And of course, wearing a head-covering does indeed help keep your entire body warm.  I am sure I would have learned this at a much earlier age if I had grown up in Wisconsin or Michigan. ;)

Well, tomorrow it's back to Chemo.  My little netbook is ready, and I'm taking some Glucerna bars and .. I think I'll take my almonds!  Plus I have this great flavored water I like to sip on constantly during chemo, because of the hellacious dry mouth thing.  Just have to get past the Benadryl woooooziness, and it's all good.
